Turkish Airlines Flight 1951 crashed less than a mile from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on February 25, 2009. The plane broke into three pieces, killing nine passengers and crew, including all three pilots. A faulty radio altimeter triggered the chain of errors leading to the crash.
